Karine Grace has been working as a professional photographer for the past fifteen years. She has worked for numerous noteworthy publications — Vogue Italia and Vogue Paris to name a few — and she has been able to thoughtfully fine-tune her craft, assisting such legendary talents as Annie Leibovitz, Mario Sorrenti and Steven Meisel.
Her first book, “The Circus”, has been published in autumn of 2016 and focuses on her year-long portraiture of night dancers in New York City’s underground.
From 2018 to 2020 Karine Grace obtained an Artist Residency for Japan. This unique and precious working exchange has further broadened her perspective, both on a creative and a professional level.
Home base has been Zurich since 2020 but regular working trips to Paris, NYC and Japan are mandatory.
While working as a full- time photographer Karine Grace is simultaneously studying for a Master Degree in Photojournalism and Documentary Photography at the London College of Communication.
There’s also currently a few projects happening:
One of them is a long term project about the Great Aletsch Glacier and its disappearance due to global warming. It’s about the transformation of the Swiss Alpine Region in specific, and transformation as a general theme. The conceptual project consists of images taken of the glacier itself in documentary style, as well as a choreography, expressed to life by professional dancer Helena Conçalvez.
“Photography as well as Art, Dance and Music mean everything to me. It’s a way of expressing something deeper than just words. It’s all about conveying emotion by thoughtfully created lighting and mood, while telling a story.
Combining all the incredible clients and performing artists I have had the privilege to work with, I truly believe that this is the career I was made for. I can’t imagine doing anything else.
I’m most grateful for the people who support me and make it happen every day.”
